THE EARTH MOVEMENTS
The Earth axis is the invisible line that goes through the North Pole to the South Pole.
It is tilted.
The Earth moves in two different ways: It revolves around the Sun, and it rotates on its invisible axis.
REVOLUTION
The Earth orbit around the Sun. One complete revolution last 365 days and 6 hours.
The tilted axis and the revolution are the reasons why we have different seasons.
Summer:days are longer than nights. In Spain it starts the 21st of June
Winter: days are shorter than nights. In Spain it starts the 21st of December.
Spring and Autumn: days and nights are more or less the same length. In Spain, Spring starts the 21st of March and Autumn starts the 21st of September.
ROTATION
The Earth rotates on its axis. It takes one day in complete the rotation. It is the reason for having day and night.
It’s day on the half that faces the Sun.
It’s night in the half that faces away from the Sun (in the shadow)
THE MOON
The Moon is the only satellite of the Earth.
It revolves around the Earth and it takes 28 days to do it.
It rotates on its axis too.
According to the position of the Moon, it is illuminated by the Sun in different ways, which are called, the MOON PHASES.
